Infrared study of 4-x benzoic acids in CCl4 and/or CHCl3 solutions

Add time:07/17/2019 Source:sciencedirect.com
The ν(CO) and νop(CO)2 modes for 4-x benzoic acids in CHCl3 and/or CCl4 solutions decrease in frequency as the σp values for the 4-x atoms or groups decrease in value while the ν(OH) mode increases in frequency. Different complexes are formed between the CO2H and (CO2H)2 groups as the mole% CHCl3/CCl4 changes from 0 to 100.
