The N-terminal protected amino acid (BOC-L-Proline (cas 15761-39-4)) is a chiral ligand for the enantioselective phenylacetylene addition to aromatic aldehydes, thus expanding the utility of the simplest enzyme, proline, in asymmetric catalysis. Good yields and enantioselectivities (up to 77% ee) were achieved.
