A novel octamolybdate-based metal-organic complex constructed from a bis(tetrazole)-functionalized thioether ligand and an Anderson-type polyoxometalate

By utilizing flexible bis(tetrazole)-functionalized thioether ligand to assemble with copper acetate and Anderson-type polyoxometalate Na3[CrMo6(OH)6O18]·8H2O, a novel octamolybdate-based metal-organic complex [CuI2(bmte)2CuII(γ-Mo8O26)(H2O)2]·2H2O (1), [bmte = 1,2-bis(1-methyl-5-mercapto-1,2,3,4-tetrazole)ethane] has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), IR spectra and elemental analyses. During the synthesis, the Anderson-type CrMo6 is converted to the octamolybdate Mo8O264−. Complex 1 contains a 1D octamolybdate-based inorganic chain [CuII(H2O)2(γ-Mo8O26)]2−, which is linked by CuI2(bmte)2 binuclear ring, constructing a 2D layered structure. The 2D network is further expanded to a 3D supramolecular structure by hydrogen bonding interaction. The complex represents the first example combing the bis(tetrazole)-functionalized thioether ligand and isopolymolybdate. The electrochemical and photocatalytic properties of the title complex were studied.
