New potent histamine H3-receptor antagonists containing an ether group were synthesized from 3-(1H-imidazole-4-yl)propanol and various substituted diphenylmethyl chlorides. Some of the designed ethers showed high activity at histamine H3-receptors under in vitro as well as under in vivo conditions. Their activity at histamine H1- and H2-receptors was also investigated proving a pharmacological H3-H1-antagonistic profile.
