HEXACHLORODISILOXANE (cas 14986-21-1): vibrational spectrum and structure

The infrared and Raman spectra of hexachlorodisiloxane indicate a nonlinear Si-O-Si linkage, and the results are analyzed in terms of a bent C2vv, model. Earlier results are shown to be in error because of misassignments or because samples had been contaminated with impurities. In the present work, a tentative assignment of nineteen fundamentals is proposed. Two torsional modes are unaccounted for.
