Vibrational assignment and rotational isomerism of 2-chloro-1-butene and 2-bromo-1-butene

Infrared spectra were obtained for 2-chloro-l-butene and 2-bromo-l-butene that show the presence of trans and gauche rotamers in both compounds. Vibrational assignments were made with the aid of normal coordinate calculations that utilized a thirty-eight parameter valence force field.
