- Therapeutic composition containing an amino acid and a triterpene. Jean, Daniel; Cariel, Leon (Fr. ). Fr. Demande FR 2535203 A1 4 May 1984,9 pp. (French). (France). CODEN: FRXXBL. CLASS: IC: A61K031-56; A61K031-195. APPLICATION: FR 82-18096 28 Oct 1982. DOCUMENT TYPE: Patent CA Section: 63 (Pharmaceuticals) Section cross-reference(s): 62 Pharmaceuticals contg. amino acids and a triterpene are useful as antiperspirants. Thus, dry leaves of Salvia officinalis are powd. and subjected to percolation with petroleum ether. The sepd. powder was dried in air and washed with Me2CO [67-64-1]. The powder and Me2CO was addnl. mixed with 8 L Me2CO and refluxed. The Me2CO fractions were concd. to 1 L and the ext. cooled to 4° for 24 h. The resulting crystals, ursolic acid (I) [77-52-1] were filtered. Later they were washed with a mixt. of CHCl3 [67-66-3]-petroleum ether (1:2). The antiperspirant efficacy of I and b-alanine [107-95-9] was demonstrated.

DOCUMENT TYPE: Conference CA Section: 1 (Pharmacodynamics) Intragastric administration of ursolic acid (I) [77-52-1] (10 mg/kg, daily for 10 days), isolated from savory, into rats increased the blood sugar concn. as well as glycogen [9005-79-2] and ATP [56-65-5] contents in the muscles, heart, and uterus. There was a concomittant decrease in ATPase [9000-83-3] activity of the muscles and organs. I may be used as a medicinal prepn. to increase energy reserves in muscles.
