The South African Journal of Chemistry, published by the South African Chemical Institute, has been publishing high quality papers, in all fields of Chemistry for over 50 years. The Journal went fully electronic in 2000.

It is a CAS-abstracted publication and is listed in Current Web Contents. It has retained its status as an accredited publication with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training.

The journal publishes short communication, full research papers and review articles in all branches of chemistry. In 2010 the journal published 39 articles comprising 232 journal pages.
