In summary, a stereoselective two-step reaction sequence
was developed for the synthesis of -propargyl ketones. The
strategy is reasonably broad, thus allowing the use of a number
of different cyclic and acyclic ketones 1, and alkylidene isoxazol-
5-ones 2. As a consequence, the target compounds 4 can be
accessed in moderate to good combined yields, general good to
excellent enantiomeric ratios and perfect diastereocontrol.
