Article abstract of DOI:10.1246/cl.1984.2113

The title compound showing mp 226-229 deg C (decomp) and <α>²⁰_D +190 deg (CH3OH) was synthesized by two different synthetic routes and fully characterized by its spectral properties.These studies suggested that the compound previously claimed to be 4-demethoxyadriamycin hydrochloride, mp 186-188 deg C (decomp), might be (+)-14-formyloxy-4-demethoxydaunorubicin hydrochloride.
