New noncyclic polyethers, which contain 3-carboxy-2-hydroxyphenyl group as one terminal group were prepared.These polyethers exhibit the ability to transport alkaline earth metal ions through chloroform liquid membrane, but not to transport alkali metal ions.Highly Ba⁺⁺-selective ionophores were synthesized in this series.
