(+/-)-Periplanone-B was synthesized via the cyclodecadienone 8.As a novel approach to the ten-membered ring the synthesis involves a Diels-Alder reaction to the cyclohexene precursor 4.The X-ray crystal structure of periplanone-B is presented.
