Diastereoisomeric couples of α-methoxy α-dihydrothiazinyl glycinates 1 were obtained by two different ways, with a proof of structure by X-Ray. 3,6-Dihydro-2H-1,3-thiazine rings were obtained via (3+3) and (4+2) cyclocondensations followed by regioselective reduction.These dihydrothiazine derivatives are potential precursors of cephamycins.
