c- and t-3-Acetyl-1,c-2-dimethyl-r-1-cyclopentanols and c-3-acetyl-1,t-2-dimethyl-r-1-cyclopentanol are synthesized stereoselectively and dl-plinols A, B, and C are prepared therefrom.
