A new natural cyclohexenone, 4-(p-methoxyphenethyl)-cyclohex-2-en-1-one, has been isolated from gametophytic tissues of the foliose liverwort Plagiochila longispina.The structure of this compound was elucidated by means of spectroscopic methods and by independent synthesis.Key Word Index - Plagiochila longispina; Jungermanniales; Hepaticae; 4-(p-methoxyphenethyl)-cyclohex-2-en-1-one.
