In summary the PVA/Fe(NO3)3nanofiber mates were prepared
by electrospinning of solution of poly(vinylalcohol) (PVA) and
Fe(NO3)3. The prepared nanofiber mates have been demonstrated
as a novel, effective, heterogeneous and biodegredable catalyst
for the synthesis of quinoline derivatives in the Friedländer
condensation of 2ꢀaminoarylketones with carbonyl compounds
and βꢀketo esters. Recovery of the catalyst was simple, allowing
its reuse without significant loss of its catalytic activity. The
10 simple and fast catalyst preparation, mild reaction conditions,
excellent yields, operational simplicity, product purity and
therefore cost efficiency are the advantages of this protocol. In
addition to this, environmentally benign membraneꢀlike catalyst
can be produced in large scales by industrial electrospinner.
