The reactions of isobutyl(isopropoxy)silyl bromides i-Bu_n(i-PrO)_3-nSiBr (n=0-3) with H2S in the presence of Et3N yield the corresponding silanethiols, i-Bu_n(i-PrO)_3-nSiSH.The transition energy ?-s^* and the IP of Si-S bond, as wel as the first IP of sulphur lone pairs do not change significantly as the number of electronegative i-PrO groups is varied.The geminal anomeric effect seems to be the reason for the increased reactivity of i-Bu(i-PrO)2SiSH and i-Bu(i-PrO)2SiH.
