Bis(tert-butylsulfonyl)acetylene, prepared in quantitative yield by m-CPBA oxidation of bis(tertbutylthio)acetylene, reacts with a variety of 1,3-dienes under very mild conditions to afford the corresponding Diels-Alder adducts in high yield.
