Reaction of cyanoepoxides with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole and 2-aminothiazole and biological assessment of products formed

The two carbons of the epoxide ring of the gem-dicyano epoxides and α-cyano α-ester epoxides act as electrophilic centers when these compounds are reacted with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole. The reaction leads to 2,3-dihydrobenzimidazo[2,1-b]-thiazoles. However, such a reactivity of the epoxides is not observed during their reaction with 2-aminothiazoline. Some of the synthetized compounds showed anthelminthic properties.
