1,2-Bis(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-oxo-2,5-cyclohexadien-1-ylidene)-3-[5-(3,5-di-t - butyl-4-oxo-2,5-cyclohexadien-1-ylidene)-2,5-dihydrothiophen-2-ylidene] cyclopropane, a new near-infrared dye, has been synthesized and characterized as the first radialene derivative exhibiting an amphoteric multi-stage redox property.
