The reactions of the ylide from the five-membered cyclic phosphonium salt 1 with methyl vinyl ketone, chalcone, and benzylidene acetone afforded cycloheptenylidiphenylphosphine oxides vith a Michael-type reaction followed by an intramolecular Wittig reaction.
