Five new sesquiterpenes with a dihydro-β-agarofuran skeleton were isolated from Maytenus canariensis (Celastraceae) and identified. Their structures and absolute configurations were determined by means of chemical correlations, 1H and 13C NMR studies, bidimensional 1H-1H and 1H-13C correlations, NOE experiments, selective INEPT, and CD studies. The new sesquiterpenes were assayed against Spodoptera littoralis in an election test and exhibited insect antifeedant activity.
