Unprecedented kinetic resolution of (+/-)-cyclohex-1-enylsilanols 1 by the Sharpless asymmetric epoxidadion has been accomplished, the rate difference between enantiomers, k_rel, being >11 to give enantiomerically pure cyclohex-1-enylcyclohexylmethylsilanol 1b in a particular case.
