A convenient synthesis of 9-hydroxy-3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-1H-azepino [5,4,3-cd] indole from 7-methoxyindole

The title compound was prepared with a route which is characterized by selective carboxylation in position four of 7-methoxyindole. Brief biological results are reported.
