Reaction of DL-3-sulfanylpropane-1,2-diol with [O(AuPPh3)3]BF4 afforded a dinuclear complex [Au2(PPh3)3{SCH2CH(OH)CH 2OH}] in which two gold environments, linear and trigonal planar, are present in the same molecule; the complex has been structurally characterized.
