7,10-Bis(2-bromophenyl)benzo[k]fluoranthene undergoes pyrolysis to afford a number of polynuclear aromatics including a new bowl-shaped C₃₂H₁₂ hydrocarbon having a carbon framework that can be identified on the buckminsterfullerene surface.
