Silver(I)/Celite promoted oxidative cycloaddition of 4-hydroxycoumarin to olefins. A facile synthesis of dihydrofurocoumarins and furocoumarins

An efficient synthesis of dihydrofurocoumarins and furocoumarins is achieved from 4- hydroxycoumarins and olefins in the presence of Ag₂CO₃/Celite in moderate yields. The new method has been applied to the synthesis of the natural cyclobrachycoumarin isolated from Brachyclados megalanthus.
