Cleistophostaudin, the novel ester, 3-hydroxy-1,7,7-trimethyl bicyclo<2.2.1>heptanyl-(trans)-4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamate was isolated from the stem bark of Cleistopholis staudtii, and its structure determined by spectroscopic data and degradative studies.The previously known methyl-(trans)-(trans)-10,11-dihydroxyfarnesoate was also isolated from the same source.
