A Simple and Efficient Synthesis of Lactone N,N-Dialkylhydrazones and their Isomeric N-(Dialkylamino)-lactams

The hitherto unknown lactone N,N-dialkylhydrazones 2 and N-(dialkylamino)-lactams 3 have been synthesized in good yields by a simple two-step procedure involving silver tetrafluoroborate- or sodium hydride-promoted cyclization of ω-chloroalkanohydrazides 1, which, in turn, were easily prepared from ω-chloroalkanoyl chlorides and hydrazines.
