The Hunsdiecker reaction of Ag (E)- and (Z)-2,2-dichloro-1-methoxy-3-methylcyclopropanecarboxylates with bromine in CCl4 at 0 and 77 deg C occurs with substantial inversion of configuration, suggesting that the 1-methoxycyclopropyl radical is configurationally less stable than the 1-fluorocyclopropyl or the 1-methoxyvinyl radical.
