The synthesis of 2′,3′-di-(4-tolylthio)uridine (5) and {1-β-(=D)-[2,3-di-(4-tolylthio)xylofuranosyl]}uracil (7) from (1-β-(=D)-lyxofuranosyl)uracil (3) and uridine, respectively, is described.
