Method b: HL1 (0.1 mmol, 0.032 g) or HL2 (0.1 mmol, 0.033 g) was
added to a solution of [Ag(TfO)(PPh3)2] (0.1 mmol, 0.078 g) in di-
chloromethane (20 mL). The stirred solution was concentrated to
about 5 mL. Addition of n-hexane (20 mL) led to precipitation of
a yellow (14) or white (15) solid. Recrystallization from dichloro-
methane/hexane afforded the pure compounds.

0.006 g) and HL1 (0.1 mmol, 0.032 g) or HL2 (0.1 mmol, 0.033 g)
were added to a solution of [Ag(TfO)(PPh3)] (0.1 mmol, 0.052 g)
in methanol (20 mL). After stirring for 15 min the solvent was con-
centrated to about 5 mL. Addition of n-hexane (20 mL) led to pre-
cipitation of a pale yellow (16) or white (17) solid.

Method b: HL1 (0.1 mmol, 0.032 g) or HL2 (0.1 mmol, 0.033 g) was
added to a solution of [Ag(acac)(PPh3)] (0.1 mmol, 0.047 g) in di-
chloromethane. The stirred solution was filtered through celite and
the filtrate concentrated to about 5 mL. Addition of n-hexane
(20 mL) led to precipitation of a pale yellow (16) or white (17)
solid. Recrystallization from dichloromethane/hexane afforded the
pure compounds.

X-ray Crystallographic Study: The crystals were mounted in inert
oil on a glass fiber and transferred to the cold gas stream of a
Bruker SMART APEX CCD system diffractometer. Data were col-
˚
lected using monochromated Mo-Kα radiation (λ ϭ 0.71073 A).
Absorption corrections were based on multiple scans (program SA-
DABS). The structures were refined on F2 using the program
SHELXL-97.[39] All non-hydrogen atoms were refined aniso-
tropically. CCDC 203107 and 203108 contain the supplementary
crystallographic data for this paper. These data can be obtained
