The pyrimidinium-4-olates of type 1 and 5 undergo 1,4-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with photochemically generated 1O2 to form the stable peroxides 2 and 6 in high yields.Chemically generated 1O2 also converts 1b-d into 2b-d.
