The chloroindolenine 4a derived from vincadifformine (1a) was reduced to aziridine 5a.Flow thermolysis of 5a at 400 deg C yielded imine 6a, which was further oxidized to tetrahydroscandine (2a).Tetrahydromeloscine (3a) was prepared from 2a following literature procedures.
