Triphenylgallane reacts with alkyl- as well as arylthiols in the molar ratio 1/2 to form the corresponding phenyl(dialkylthio)- and phenyl(diarylthio)gallanes.When a molar ratio of 1/3 is used, the corresponding trialkylthio- and triarylthiogallanes are formed.The spectra and some of the physical and chemical properties of the new compounds are reported.Some reactions of the thiogallanes with trimethylamine as well as I2 are discussed.
