Oxidation of alcohols by silica gelsupported bis(trimethylsilyl) chromate

Bis(trimethylsilyl) chromate generated from chromic anhydride and hexamethyldisiloxane in dichloromethane was supported onto silica gel surface. This supported chromium (VI) reagent was excellent for oxidizing alcohols of various types of the corresponding carbonyl compounds.
