n-Butyltriphenylphosphonium peroxodisulfate in refluxing acetonitrile transforms trimethylsilyl (TMS) and tetrahydropyranyl ethers, ethylene acetals and ketals to their corresponding carbonyl compounds in excellent yields. Selective oxidative deprotection of TMS and THP ethers in the presence of ethylene acetals (ketals) is of additional importance in this method.
