The reaction of dichloroethyne with Pd(PPh3)4 or RhCl(PPh3)3 gives complexes with a phosphoniumacetylide ligand, Ph3P⁺ C<*>C^-.A platinum compound with the same ligand can be prepared by reaction of Pt(PPh3)2(C2H4) with CCl>⁺ Cl^-.The molecular structure of the palladium complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction methods.
