X-ray structure determination revealed the presence of
N–H/O, O–H/O and N–O/H charge assisted hydrogen
bond interactions apart from coulombic attractions in the
solid state which may be present in the other two title
complex salts also. The present study shows that
[Co(NH3)6]3C present in [Co(NH3)6]Cl3 may find
application as anion receptor for toxic and commercially
important mono, di and tri-subsituted nitrophenolate ions in
aqueous medium in contrast to other synthetic receptors
which are effective in non aqueous medium.
