The influence of the different elements Co, K, Cu as components of catalysts, has been investigated for the reaction of hydrogenation of CO2.Cobalt, without promoter, appears to be predominant in the methanation process. The presence of potassium in the matrix changes the nature of bonds between the other chemical species and favours the formation of CO.The addition of Cu reduces the specific role of potassium; it limits the quantity of products formed and decreases the selectivity in CO.In the absence of potassium, copper lowers the temperature of reduction of the catalysts, decreasing their activity, and affects the distribution of the active carboneous species formed during the transient regime.
