Oxidation of sec,sec-1,2-Diols to 1,2-Diketones under Pfitzner-Moffatt-Conditions

In contrast to many other oxidation methods, the "Pfitzner-Moffatt" technique converts sec,sec-1,2-diols 1 into 1,2-diketones 2 without any C-C-bond cleavage.Other functional groups like olefinic double bonds or esters are not affected under the mild and almost neutral reaction conditions.
