The partial synthesis of oosponol (4), which shows significant antibiotic activity, has been accomplished by enzyme catalyzed reactions including regioselective acetylation of (-)-oospoglycol (1) followed by an oxidation step and hydrolysis by a lipase. VCH Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, 1997.
