Example 1 – Biphenyl (2a) from iodobenzene (1a): The

min, a constant current (10 mA, 1.6 V) was applied and
the mixture was further stirred for 8 h at 258C. Reaction
progress was monitored by GC. After 8 h, the product was
extracted with ether (350 mL). The ether phases were
combined and evaporated under vacuum to give the product
as colourless crystalline platelets; yield: 0.81 g (55 mol%
