of the formation and consumption of byproducts are also discussed, their buildup rate equations are given,
and possible reaction mechanisms are proposed. It has been revealed that the formation of the byproduct 4ꢀ

manufacturing phthalocyanine pigments and turꢀ
quoise and yellow hue dyes [1]. The use of 4ꢀpheꢀ
nylphthalonitrile will make it possible to replace
highly chlorinated copper phthalocyanine, which is
manufactured through quite a sophisticated, environꢀ
mentally unfriendly process of chlorination of copper
phthalocyanine in an aluminum chloride–sodium
chloride melt [2].
The objective of this work was to investigate in
detail the kinetics of ammoxidation of 4ꢀphenylꢀ
xylene of a retrofitted, zirconiaꢀmodified catalyst of
the Lꢀ8 brand, i.e., the V–Sb–BiꢀZr/ ꢀAl O3 contact
catalyst, which under certain conditions can preclude
the formation of 4ꢀphenylphthalimide.

of ꢀxylene in the presence of the modified catalyst

trial application. In that works, we obtained rate equaꢀ

and phthalimide buildup. We showed that that phthaꢀ
