4.9. GC–MS analysis
The ethyl acetate extracts from ADH2 reactions were directly
analyzed by GC–MS using an Agilent 6890N GC connected to an
Agilent 5973N mass selective detector equipped with a DB-5 col-
umn (30 m ꢀ 0.25 mm i.d., J&W Scientific) split 25:1 using an ini-
tial temperature of 70 °C except for extracts containing artemisia
alcohol (1), (ꢁ)-carveol (3), benzyl alcohol, 3-methyl-2-buten-1-
ol, 2-cyclohexen-1-ol, and 1-octen-3-ol, for which 40 °C was used,
and farnesol, artemisinic alcohol, and phytol, for which 125 °C was
used, for 1 min. This was followed by an increase to 240 °C at 5 °C/
min. The samples were analyzed in electron impact mode under
standard conditions (70 eV).
