Cyclization of allyl α-halocarboxylates in the presence of metallocomplex initiators

Allyl trichloroacetate and allyl 2,2-dichloropropionate, unlike allyl bromoacetate and allyl 2-bromopropionate, undergo cyclization into γ-lactones in the presence of a Fe(CO)₅-amide system. All these esters undergo reductive dehalogenation under the action of the Buⁿ₃SnH-AlBN system.
