stirred for 1 h before the solvent was evaporated under re-
duced pressure to leave a crude residue, which was purified
by column chromatography on silica using a 5–20% diethyl
ether in light petroleum gradient as the eluent to give
cedrone 15 (26.1 mg, 99%) as a colourless oil. IR nmax
(film)/cmꢀ1 2960, 2877, 1715 and 1460; 1H NMR
(400 MHz, CDCl3): d 0.89 (3H, d, J 7.1, CHCH3), 1.00
(3H, s, (CH3)2C), 1.01 (3H, s, (CH3)2C), 1.42 (1H, m),
1.51 (1H, m), 1.56–1.76 (4H, overlapping m), 1.80–2.00
(4H, overlapping m), 2.27–2.36 (2H, overlapping m,
O]CCHCH2+CH2CH2C]O) and 2.48 (1H, dd, J 18.3
and 7.8, CH2CH2C]O); 13C NMR (100 MHz, CDCl3):
d 15.7 (CHCH3), 25.7, 26.0 ((CH3)2C), 26.4 ((CH3)2C),
32.1, 36.8, 37.0, 41.5, 41.8, 43.0 ((CH3)2C), 54.6
(CH2CCHCH3), 57.1 (CH2CH2CHC), 67.3 (O]CCHCH2)
and 214.4 (C]O); HRMS (EI) m/z Calcd for C14H22O
(M+): 206.16707. Found: 206.16753.
