cis-4,5-Dihydroxy-[3,6-¹⁴C]-1,2-dithiane-1,1-dioxide ([¹⁴C]-12) was synthesized in eleven steps from [1,4-¹⁴C]fumaric acid ([¹⁴C]-1) in 10% overall yield.
