A novel iodine-mediated cascade condensation-cyclization of aryl methyl ketones with anilines has been successfully developed. According to this strategy, a variety of 1,2,4-triarylpyrroles were straightforwardly synthesized in moderate to good yields from very simple and readily available starting materials.
