A six step stereoselective synthesis of (-)-δ-multistriatin <(1S,2S,4S,5R)-5-ethyl-2,4-dimethyl-6,8-dioxabicyclo<3.2.1>octane, 1> is presented, starting from 2,4-O-ethylidene-D-erythrose (2), which is readily available from D-glucose.
